Hebden Bridge Festival

What a lovely gig we had at Hebden Bridge Festival Fringe, a full house and a lively set of poems and music, full of laughter and moving moments. Luckily, for us, there were no floods that day. I really do feel for all the people affected by the recent floods in Hebden Bridge. Well done to Heidi waddington, key organiser of the fringe for her fab organisational skills and warm welcome.

The photo montage was taken by Maggie Boyle, photographer – all the audience look very serious or ‘rapt’ as someone else said, but we did have a lot of laughs too!

Hebden Bridge Arts Festival Fringe Gig

– HEBDEN BRIDGE FRINGE ARTS FESTIVAL – THE MOUTH OF THE CAVE

POETRY AND MUSIC WITH SIOBHAN MAC MAHON AND SABRINA PIGGOTT,

Myself and Sabrina are both winging (or in my casing boating) our way over to Ireland for a few days, Sabrina is doing a gig in Cuskinny Bay, Cork, her home town and I am celebrating my son’s 18th Birthday with family in Dublin – how did he get to be so old? Anyway old enough to buy his mother a pint in Dublin! I’m also going to the west coast, so I shall be practising my poems for Hebden, out loud by the wild Atlantic sea and communing with fairies and Goddesses (and the Guinness of course!) to get ready for our gig in Hebden Bridge on Sun 8th July at the white lion, 3-4pm.

Sabrina and I recently did a gig celebrating the Changing Face of Ireland in Leeds, a lovely night with the Fab. Lucht Focail Poets (people of the word, in Irish)  see photos.

Hope to share some of Ireland’s magic with you at Hebden Fringe with the poems and music.

Siobhan Mac Mahon

Gig – The Changing Face of Ireland

Really looking forward to performing with the lovely singer/song writer, Sabrina Piggott at Seven Arts Centre, Chapel Allerton, Leeds 7 on sat evening 16th June. The event has been orgainised by the Lovely luacht Focail Poets (That’s Irish, in case you’re wondering, which I was going to translate, but my Irish seems to have deserted me! – something to do with words)

There will be poetry from the Luacht Focail poets, music, Irish Dancing and song and of course much partaking of wine and beer…

Vienna

Just recently back from a wonderful gig in Vienna at the University! been wanting to visit that wonderful city for ages. What a lovely evening it was at the University, a great audience, warm welcome and even Guinness after! Thank you Julia Lajta-Novac and Werner Hubert at the University for inviting me. And what good English you all speak over there and as for the cakes and coffee…..

Another Irish Poet, Neil Mc Carthy was also performing  – and what a funny and accomplished Poet he is.

Hoping to go to Berlin in October…

Flying Home

Just got back from wonderful Authentic Movement retreat in Norfolk.  Together and individually we ‘danced our personal and collective stories’ Demons locked horns with demons, angels danced, wood sprites beckoned, Kali danced her dance of death and life, gremlins played and mischief enticed….
